Surveillance (Emily Dickinson Poem)

Under an impenetrable surveillance,
A constant study through a microscope occurs--
Fight or Flight begins.

Constantly trapped in a haze of mediocrity,
A moth desperately twitches and flaps for survival.
Creation, Life, Death: ideas beating against the glass of the pickle jar--
Trying to escape.

Constantly trapped in a haze of mediocrity,
The couple struggles against the tide of change.
Education, Family, Future: concepts crashing down on their misperceptions of reality--
Trying to forget.

The reverberating echoes--
The droning paralysis setting in.
Senses failing and voices giving out.

Constantly trapped in a haze of mediocrity,
One last meager attempt at living and redemption--
Made in vain.

Asphyxiation takes hold--
Unbreakable bonds are severed.
Nothing is working--
No need to be scared.
